Atlantic's Steps to Protect Against COVID 19

03/11/2020

A lot has been written, and a lot has been said about the coronavirus during the past few weeks. There is an old saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Atlantic has been monitoring the situation and is implementing preventative measures to help protect members and staff.

As a credit union, we have high-frequency contact with thousands of people weekly. Employees who exhibit signs of illness are expected to remain home. In our effort to help control the spread of COVID-19, we are training our staff on enhanced everyday behaviors designed to minimize contact and promote health and wellness.

  • Proper Hand Hygiene
    • No more handshakes
    • Frequently washing with soap and water or using hand sanitizer
  • Cough Etiquette
    • Covering mouth with a tissue
    • Using upper sleeve if no tissue is available
  • Social Distancing
    • Avoid close contact with coworkers and members
  • Frequent Cleaning Work Surfaces
    • Keyboards and other computer equipment
    • Telephone

Throughout the day, staff will be using disinfecting wipes on the ATMs, door handles, and communal surfaces in our lobby area.  Our drive-thru tellers will also be using the wipes on the “drive-thru tube” throughout the day.

For you, in each branch, we have tissues, hand sanitizer, and no-touch trash cans.  Some branches have public restrooms for soap and water to wash hands. Recently, the World Health Organization has urged people handling cash to wash up with soap and water.  Using your Atlantic Kasasa debit card or Atlantic Visa credit card has never been more prudent. Unlike bills, you can clean these plastics with disinfecting wipes.

While we look forward to seeing our members in the branch, limiting social interactions can be very effective in controlling the spread of infectious diseases.  Now, more than ever, we encourage you to utilize all of our alternative banking channels:

If you need help to set up online or mobile banking, please call our contact center to walk you through the process.  In times of uncertainty, it is best to be proactive and look to control what we can control.  We believe the above are tangible and actionable steps to help protect you and our staff.

We will continue to monitor the situation and take additional steps if necessary.  Remember, when we don't offer to shake hands, please take no offense, we are practicing proper hand hygiene.  Rest assured, we will greet you with a warm smile and hearty hello.
